Alexis Mrachek was a policy analyst for Russia and Eurasia in the Douglas and Sarah Allison Center for Foreign Policy Studies at The Heritage Foundation. In her research and writing, she focused on domestic politics and security issues within the Eurasia region. She is proficient in Russian.

Her commentary has been featured in news outlets such as Newsweek, Los Angeles Times, Fox News, The National Interest, Washington Examiner, RealClearWorld, Dallas Morning News, Voice of America Ukrainian Service, The Washington Times, and the Australian Financial Review. She has been quoted in multiple outlets, including The Guardian, Agenda Georgia, Georgia Today, and Forbes, as well as the Republican Study Committee’s 2020 National Security Strategy.

Before joining Heritage, Mrachek worked as a staff assistant at the Rumsfeld Foundation, where she assisted with the Central Asia-Caucasus Fellowship Program. She is also a former Heritage intern.

Mrachek earned her Master’s degree in Eurasian, Russian, and East European Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, and her Bachelor’s degree in Russian and International Studies from Texas A&M University.

While working towards her Bachelor’s, she lived in St. Petersburg, Russia, for 10 weeks studying the Russian language. She has also completed Middlebury College’s intensive Russian immersion program.

Mrachek is from San Antonio, Texas, and currently resides in Washington, D.C.
