Take a Stand for the Supreme Court campaign gives Americans an opportunity to show support for the immediate confirmation of Judge Barrett

WASHINGTON—The Heritage Foundation launched a new digital campaign—Take a Stand for the Supreme Court—where Americans can make their voices heard in support of the Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s immediate confirmation to the U.S. Supreme Court.

President Donald Trump nominated Barrett for a seat as an associate justice on the U.S. Supreme Court. Even before Saturday’s announcement, Trump and U.S. senators have faced stiff resistance, and even calls for violence from the left. This despite the fact that nominating and confirming justices to the Supreme Court under similar circumstances is something that has happened many times in U.S. history.

“The Supreme Court needs justices committed to faithfully interpreting the law with the U.S. Constitution as their guide,” said Heritage President Kay C. James. “At this pivotal point in our nation’s history, Judge Barrett is the right person for the job. She is a committed originalist with sterling credentials, a brilliant legal mind, and a steel backbone. Every American should not only support her nomination, but celebrate it.”

Americans who participate in the Take a Stand for the Supreme Court campaign can sign a petition, post messages to social media asking their friends to join the campaign, and tell the U.S. Senate that Americans want Barrett to be confirmed “without delay.” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham have indicated that they will hold hearings in the coming weeks.

“The Heritage Foundation is providing Americans with a platform to show their support for Judge Barrett at a time when powerful interests in Washington and street mobs are trying to silence them,” said Rob Bluey, Heritage’s vice president of communications. “Americans who believe in our country’s founding principles and who want justices to uphold the rule of law can make their voices heard. This campaign will bring together a massive community of Americans to support the confirmation of Judge Barrett.”

Take a Stand for the Supreme Court is powered by FreeRoots, a grassroots platform with a mission to empower everyone who cares about public policy issues to engage in action and make their views known.

The Heritage Foundation is the nation’s most broadly supported public policy research institute, with more than a half-million donors. Founded in 1973, it develops and promotes public policy solutions that advance free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional values and a strong national defense.
