Richard Stern is Acting Director of the Thomas A. Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies and Director of the Grover M. Hermann Center for the Federal Budget at The Heritage Foundation.
Stern has testified several times before Congress, is a frequent guest on TV and radio shows, including Fox, Fox Business and CNBC. His work has also been featured by RealClearMarkets and RealClearPolitics. Stern has served as a co-chair of Heritage’s Regulation, Inflation, and Spending Elimination (RISE) policy campaign. He has also led economic and budget policy team efforts to create two versions of the Budget Blueprint, Heritage’s annual balanced alternative federal budget.
Prior to joining Heritage, Stern spent over seven years as a Congressional staffer. During that time, he served as a policy staffer for the Republican Study Committee, where he was the staff lead for their Budget and Spending task force and spearheaded their work to create their FY 2020 and FY 2022 federal budgets.
He also served as Legislative Director for Representative Tom McClintock of California and was a Legislative Assistant for former Representative Steve King of Iowa.
Stern received a degree in economics from Emory University.
