Maiya Clark was a Senior Research Associate in The Heritage Foundation’s Center for National Defense, focusing on defense industrial base issues.

In this role, she researched and wrote on the industrial base, military procurement, and acquisition and industrial policy with an eye towards improving the resilience and capabilities of these key areas. Among other topics she wrote on naval shipyards, the Defense Production Act, and supply chain management. Maiya Clark’s research and views have been quoted widely in the defense media.

Before joining the Center for National Defense team, she worked at Heritage as assistant to Dr. James Jay Carafano, Vice President of the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy. She originally joined The Heritage Foundation in 2018 as a research and administrative assistant in the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom. 

Maiya holds a bachelor of arts degree in International Relations with a minor in Economics from the University of Southern California. As an undergraduate, she also studied at the American University of Paris and the London School of Economics, completing the yearlong General Course program at the LSE.

Maiya is a member of the 2020-21 Marshall Fellowship and was a member of the 2017 Young Leaders Program at The Heritage Foundation. 

Maiya was born in Sacramento, California, and she grew up on her family’s cattle ranch in Shandon, California. She lives in Washington, D.C.
