WASHINGTON—The Heritage Foundation announced today that Theodore Wold, former Idaho solicitor general and U.S. assistant attorney general, has joined Heritage as a visiting fellow for law and technology in the Center for Technology and the Human Person.
Dr. Kevin Roberts, president of The Heritage Foundation and Heritage Action for America, welcomed Theo:
“Theo Wold is one of the fiercest legal minds in the conservative movement—a warrior against the lawless administrative state and a trusted defender of the everyday American. From serving President Trump to challenging corporate overreach in Idaho, he brings exactly the kind of bold, unapologetic leadership we need at Heritage.”
Theo commented on his new position:
“Under the leadership of Kevin Roberts, Heritage has positioned itself as a leading defender of the Trump administration and the policies that are Making America Great Again. I’m delighted to join this effort and I’m keen to bring my experience to help shape conservative policy around technology, law, and national security.”
At Heritage, Theo will provide legal and technical expertise on policy for state enforcement against Big Tech abuses, combatting Big Tech anticompetitive practices through antitrust action, navigating free speech arguments amidst online child safety and anti-censorship legislation, and regulating emerging technology at the state and federal levels. Theo writes on national security issues, particularly as they relate to immigration policy and the runaway judiciary. He has testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee on President Biden’s use of the autopen and advises the Oversight Project on their continued research into autopen abuses.
Wesley Hodges, acting director of The Center for Technology and the Human Person at The Heritage Foundation, added:
“Theo is leading the charge to align tech innovation with American values. We’re grateful he’s bringing his expertise to Heritage to the fight for technology that serves the well-being, productivity, and security of everyday Americans.”
Theo currently serves as senior counselor at Palantir. Prior to joining Palantir, Theo served as director of the Administrative State Project at the Claremont Institute, assistant attorney general in the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Policy and deputy assistant to the President for domestic policy during President Donald Trump’s first administration, and as solicitor general of Idaho.
