WASHINGTON—Richard M. Reinsch II, a leading conservative scholar on American constitutionalism and free markets, is joining The Heritage Foundation as a senior fellow and columnist for The Daily Signal.

Reinsch is the founding editor of Liberty Fund’s online journal Law & Liberty and hosts the podcast Liberty Law Talk. He is coauthor with Peter Augustine Lawler of “A Constitution in Full: Recovering the Unwritten Foundation of American Liberty” (Kansas Press, May 2019).

“Richard Reinsch is a world-class scholar, an excellent writer, and a great addition to our Heritage Foundation team,” Heritage President Kevin Roberts said. “At a time when conservatives are having important debates about our movement’s future agenda for America, Richard brings a principled outlook that’s highly respected by intellectuals, journalists, and academics across the country. We are grateful for his work at Liberty Fund and look forward to his contributions at Heritage.”

In his role at Heritage, Reinsch will regularly convene podcast conversations, debates, and conferences with key thinkers and influencers. He will author a regular column at The Daily Signal, Heritage’s multimedia news outlet. Reinsch will continue to host a podcast with high-profile guests to deepen the understanding of our core principles, and develop positions for a morally serious conservatism that advocates constitutional and economic liberty.

Reinsch is the author of “Whittaker Chambers: The Spirit of a Counterrevolutionary” (ISI Books, 2010), and is the editor of “Seeking the Truth: An Orestes Brownson Anthology” (Catholic University of America Press, 2016). His work has appeared in Perspectives on Political Science, Commentary, National Affairs, American Affairs, The American Conservative, Modern Age, National Review Online, The Weekly Standard, and The University Bookman, among other publications. He received his law degree in 2004 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He practiced law in securities and mergers and acquisitions before arriving at Liberty Fund.

“I greatly look forward to joining The Heritage Foundation as a senior fellow, where I will contribute as a writer and podcaster to the ideas and debates in our politics and country. We must recover and develop the best positions for a morally serious conservatism that advocates constitutional and economic liberty,” Reinsch said.

Reinsch recently spoke at the National Conservatism Conference, his second appearance at the event. His speech, “The Moral and Political Foundation of the Market Order,” was part of a panel that also featured Jay W. Richards, Ph.D., Heritage’s William E. Simon senior research fellow.
