Evidence is growing that the tyrannical regimes of China, Iran, and Cuba are not only financing protests in American streets, but actively directing them.
The Network Contagion Research Institute, whose work in these areas has been indispensable for years, recently published another groundbreaking study that blows the lid off how this foreign network operates.
The report indicates that an Iranian influence node that takes orders from the Islamic Republic regime, the House of Latin America, conducts what NCRI calls “high-impact domestic U.S. influence operations.”
“For nearly two decades,” NCRI says, HOLA “has functioned as a primary bridge between the Iranian regime, Latin American socialist governments, and U.S. anti-war coalitions, with its American-based operatives acting as undeclared agents of a foreign government on U.S. soil.”
It gets much worse. HOLA, it says, “has now formally merged with Neville Roy Singham’s Chinese Communist Party-linked Tricontinental network to form a unified Iran-China operation targeting the United States from the south.”
>>> Trojan Horses: Covert Foreign Malign Influence Operations in America
Neville Roy Singham is an American who lives in Shanghai, has close ties to the Chinese Communist Party, and uses the nearly $800 million he made in the 2017 sale of a tech consulting firm to fund communist causes worldwide.
All of this means that “Iran and China have now merged their U.S. influence operations into a single machine,” the report says.
This means that many of the protests in America aren’t organic, but actually Kabuki street theater perpetrated by a red-green alliance of communist and Islamist groups. Less well known is the involvement of malign foreign interests.
Hillary Clinton recently got into trouble online not for celebrating street mayhem, but for saying that what was wrong was not the protests, but white Christians trying to stop societal and cultural decay.
“People have been protesting, you know, for hundreds of years, that, you know, things were not as they should be, given our ideals and how we should be moving toward them. So I think that’s what makes us so special as a country,” she said on the liberal confessional stage offered by MS Now’s Morning Joe every weekday morning.
“The idea that you could turn the clock back and try to recreate a world that never was, dominated by, you know, let’s say it, white men, of a certain persuasion, certain religion, a certain point of view, a certain ideology, is just doing such damage to what we should be aiming for,” she averred.
I was cheered, though, to hear Hillary confirm that conservatives have derailed the liberal project, at least temporarily: “We were on the path toward that … we were on the right trajectory.”
NCRI has consistently documented the nefarious foreign involvement in the protests that are trying to undo this conservative restoration; its new report is but the latest. In 2024, it was one of the first research outfits to spotlight Singham and his network, a report that led to a slew of media reports, congressional hearings, and a federal investigation.
Later that year, and again in 2025, NCRI shone its bright light on the Middle Eastern Children’s Alliance (which sports yet another catchy acronym, MECA). Its 2025 investigation, it says, yielded evidence suggesting that MECA had “fiscal and personnel ties to entities associated with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP),” which the U.S. government has designated as a foreign terrorist organization.
In addition to these unsavory connections, and others in the Gaza Strip, MECA has recently “begun facilitating fundraising for a network of extremist anti-government actors based in the United States.”
MECA, for example, is listed as a partner in a fundraising campaign initiated by the Singham-linked Shut It Down for Palestine Marxist-Islamist coalition of groups that lead urban marches in America. The Singham-funded People’s Forum, one of the Marxist outfits in the SID4P, also reported in 2024 a grant of $16,420 to MECA, described as a “Humanitarian Relief Fundraiser.”
MECA is also involved in the effort to indoctrinate our children by penetrating our K-12 public school system. MECA created the Teach Palestine radical curriculum which, according to the 2025 NCRI report, enjoys “widespread circulation” because it was adopted by Rethinking Schools and the Zinn Education Project, two radical curriculum and teaching material producers.
MECA, however, enjoys support from what could be called the far-left establishment. Its Alliance of Founding Advisors has included the writer Maya Angelou, the Marxist academic Noam Chomsky, and Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA). It receives funding from organizations inside billionaire George Soros’s Open Society Foundations, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, and the NoVo Foundation.
But the merging of China, Iran, and Cuba into a single machine influence operation takes things to a different level. The key link here is between HOLA and Tricontinental’s boss, Vijay Prashad, an Indian communist academic with close ties to Cuba’s regime, whose Politburo he met with this year, and a close friend of Singham’s.
One of Prashad’s contacts in HOLA is Ali Abutalebi, the former digital communications director for former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whose two terms in office in 2005-13 were one of the most radical of the Islamic Republic.
According to NCRI’s new report, “Abutalebi manages Tricontinental’s Persian-language digital infrastructure.” The two organizations also “co-publish content and jointly raise funds for Cuban solidarity campaigns routing donations through OFAC [the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control]-designated Iranian banks—including one designated specifically for financing Iran’s Ministry of Defense weapons procurement.”
In other words, Ahmadinejad’s digital guy now manages digital infrastructure for an American-registered nonprofit organization with close ties to the CCP and which does Cuba’s dirty work here.

Worse, Abutalebi is now domiciled in Chicago—“the Iranian regime’s asset on the ground” in the Windy City, as the NCRI puts it. “He organizes protests alongside U.S. socialist and anti-government coalitions, coordinates Iranian regime national days of action on American streets, and raises funds in OFAC-sanctioned Iranian banks—all without a FARA registration.”
Another key figure in the growing relationship between HOLA and the Chinese-influenced Singham network is HOLA founder Abdolhamid Shahrabi, which the NCRI describes as “one of the Iranian regime’s most important influence operators in Latin America.”
It was Shahrabi who organized Cuban dictator Fidel Castro’s visit to Tehran in 2003. Twenty years later, Shahrabi organized a conference at the University of Tehran attended by the ambassadors of Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, and Nicaragua, and Tricontinental’s Prashad.
The NCRI, finally, cites hacked internal records from Press TV, which is Iran’s OFAC-sanctioned English-language state propaganda outlet, which reveal that Press TV contacted by telephone key American partners of Shahrabi ahead of U.S. protests.
“The United National Antiwar Coalition and Workers World Party received no fewer than 260 combined contacts over a 29-month period from 2019 to 2022,” the report said. “Call volume spikes consistently preceded U.S.-based protest surges by roughly one month, indicating that Iranian state media engagement.”
If that doesn’t get our leaders’ attention, not much will.
