Description

2018 marks two significant anniversaries for Georgia – not only 10 years since Russia aggressively invaded Georgia’s territory, but also 10 years since NATO promised Georgia eventual Alliance membership at the Bucharest Summit. Today, Russia continues to occupy 20 percent of Georgian territory, and Georgia still prominently supports NATO despite its lack of membership. Positively, under the Trump Administration so far, the U.S. has proved to be a staunch ally of Georgia. Vice President Pence visited Georgia last August and the Department of State approved a significant Javelin anti-tank missile sale to Georgia last December. In what ways can the Administration further display its show of support for Georgia? Will President Trump advocate for Georgia to become a part of NATO? Join us for a discussion of these issues and more.
