Bates holds a bachelor’s degree in politics form Hillsdale College. She has a law degree at George Mason University’s Antonin Scalia Law School, where she served as managing editor of the George Mason Law Review and president of the Federalist Society. She also served as executive editor of the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy (symposium edition).
