Salim Furth researched and explained how public policy affected economic growth and individual opportunity as research fellow in macroeconomics at The Heritage Foundation’s Center for Data Analysis. His economic research has covered fiscal policy, international economics, labor market trends, the cost of living, and economic mobility.

Furth has testified before Congress and frequently discusses economic headlines on radio and TV. His commentary has appeared in The Hill, Public Discourse, The Federalist, The City, and The Washington Times, and he was a regular contributor to the Wall Street Journal’s policy blog, Think Tank. Furth frequently reviews academic research and summarizes the policy implications of important scholarly papers.

Before joining Heritage in 2012, Furth was a visiting assistant professor of economics at Amherst College and a visiting research scholar at Northeastern University.

Furth completed graduate studies at the University of Rochester, where he received a doctorate in economics with concentrations in macroeconomics and international economics. He also holds a master of arts degree in economics from the University of Rochester and a bachelor of science in economics and international affairs from Northeastern University.

Furth, who grew up in Boston, lived overseas for two years. He and his wife Katrina, a neuroscientist, reside in Washington, D.C. with their children.
