WASHINGTON—The Heritage Foundation announced today that Diana Furchtgott-Roth is joining The Heritage Foundation as director for the newly created Center for Energy, Climate and Environment. Furchtgott-Roth will also serve as the Herbert and Joyce Morgan fellow in energy and environmental policy.

In this position, Furchtgott-Roth will lead Heritage’s new center in providing sensible, economical, and scientifically sound solutions to the energy crisis created by the radical left, and presenting a positive vision for U.S. energy freedom in the coming months and years.

Furchtgott-Roth’s policy experience runs deep. She served as deputy assistant secretary for research and technology at the U.S. Department of Transportation, acting assistant secretary for economic policy at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and chief economist at the U.S. Department of Labor. She has also worked in think tanks and academia. Furchtgott-Roth has authored six books, published hundreds of articles on economic policy, and frequently provided expert testimony before Congress. She received her B.A. in economics from Swarthmore College and her M.Phil. in economics from Oxford University.

Roger Severino, Heritage vice president for domestic policy, released the following statement on Furchtgott-Roth’s joining the Heritage team:

“Americans are suffering from historic energy prices and inflation as a direct result of the Biden administration’s poverty inducing energy and climate policies. We must reject enviro-alarmism and unleash American productivity to achieve energy freedom and sound environmental stewardship. That’s why we’re ecstatic Diana is joining the Heritage team. With more than 20 years’ experience in economic and energy policy, Diana has been a stalwart fighter for responsible development of America’s vast potential. She will be a key player in Heritage’s efforts to reduce barriers to innovation, push back against the radical left’s extremist ‘green-energy’ schemes, and present Americans with a positive, science-based energy agenda that will lead our country back to economic prosperity.”
