Washington, D.C.—Marie Fishpaw, the Heritage Foundation’s director of domestic policy studies, released the following response to the Republican Study Committee’s new health reform proposal:
“America deserves a vision for health care that is better than the left’s calls for more government control. Heritage commends the Republican Study Committee for releasing a health care proposal that will reduce health care costs by removing federal mandates, help the most vulnerable get continued access to care, and provide more competition in health insurance markets by putting patients in charge.”
“The RSC plan shares many similarities to the Health Care Choices Proposal, which has support from Heritage and more than 100 conservative leaders across the country. The Health Care Choices Proposal would reduce insurance premiums by up to 32 percent and keep overall health coverage numbers consistent.”
“With health care a top concern for most Americans, it’s imperative for Congress to return to health reform and offer Americans real relief from the high health care costs and limited choices they face in the current system.”
