WASHINGTON—The Heritage Foundation announced today that Jason Bedrick will join the organization as a research fellow in the Center for Education Policy.

Bedrick, who will start on May 2, comes to Heritage after serving as the director of policy for EdChoice, the namesake foundation of Milton and Rose Friedman dedicated to empowering families to choose the best schooling environment for their children. During that time, Bedrick worked closely with state policymakers and local coalitions across the country to advance education choice for all.

“I’m excited to be joining The Heritage Foundation’s powerhouse education policy team, which has long been a national leader in the effort to advance education freedom and choice,” said Bedrick, who recently co-edited “Religious Liberty and Education: A Case Study of Yeshivas vs. New York” with Heritage Senior Research Fellow Jay Greene.

At Heritage, Bedrick will focus on policies that promote education choice, values-based education, religious liberty, and reduced government intervention in education, as well as efforts to combat antisemitism.

“Heritage has made it a priority to put power back in the hands of parents to make their own education choices, which is why we’re delighted to have Jason Bedrick join our education policy team,” said Heritage President Kevin Roberts. “His vast experience helping state policymakers design bills to give American families more education choice is exactly what we need as we combat critical race theory and radical gender ideology, take on the utterly incompetent U.S. Department of Education, reduce bureaucracy at every level of government, and fight teachers’ unions that hold our children back from receiving a quality education.”

Robert Enlow, president and CEO of EdChoice, added, “As Milton and Rose Friedman’s legacy foundation, we at EdChoice have been honored to have Jason Bedrick on our team for the last five years and we are excited for his opportunity at The Heritage Foundation.”

“Jason is a leader in the movement to advance school choice in the states, having worked for years with state policymakers to make sure families can choose learning environments that align with their values,” said Lindsey Burke, director of Heritage’s Center for Education Policy.

Bedrick, who also served as a legislator in the New Hampshire House of Representatives, brings his deep expertise in state-level policy design to the Center for Education Policy alongside Greene, Jonathan Butcher, and John Schoof. His work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Newsweek, The New York Post, National Review, National Affairs, Education Next, and numerous outlets.
