This Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., Dean Cheng, senior research fellow with The Heritage Foundation's Asian Studies Center, will testify before the House Armed Services Committee's Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities about China's pursuit of emerging and exponential military technology.
From Cheng's testimony: "This brief survey of Chinese technological advances provides a glimpse to the extent of the growing challenge the [People's Republic of China] poses to U.S. technological and scientific preeminence. Indeed, in some areas such as super-computing, it is China, not the United States, that is the leader. It is therefore essential that the United States government, including Congress, recognize the nature of the challenge posed by Beijing’s science and technology juggernaut."
In his testimony, Cheng will present areas in which China continues to innovate and expand its military technology, and what Congress and the Trump administration must do to retain superiority in these arenas.
