Terms and Conditions of Attendance

Terms and Conditions of Attendance

The Heritage Foundation, founded in 1973, is a think tank committed to formulating and promoting public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense.

To advance Heritage’s mission, we host events at our Washington, D.C. headquarters, at other venues throughout the country, and virtually. Many events are open to the public while others are private or invite only. Registering for or attending an event indicates that you agree to Heritage’s Terms and Conditions of Attendance contained herein.

REGISTRATION

If you would like to join us, we encourage and may require advance registration; select events may allow for on-site registration. Please note that some events may also require a registration fee to attend, may be limited to non-transferrable invitation, or may have admittance subject to occupancy limits and available seating. Please check event details for specific instructions. By registering for a Heritage event, you consent to receiving emails from The Heritage Foundation unless otherwise indicated.

DECORUM

We welcome opportunities to discuss and debate ideas, however guests must refrain from disruptive behavior, interference of a program, non-compliance with requests from staff or security, trespassing, soliciting, peddling, loitering, and any other behavior deemed inappropriate at Heritage’s discretion. Please ask for permission in advance if you would like to distribute promotional items such as flyers, handbills, or printed materials. Signs, banners, posters, flags, and items deemed as a distraction or that could be used as weapons are prohibited.

Additional provisions to this policy may apply pursuant to our agreement with the venue and/or external partners.

ACCESSIBILITY AND ALLERGIES

Heritage aims to create events that are accessible for guests of all abilities. If you need special assistance or accommodations, please contact your event host or event staff, preferably in advance of the event.

Please notify event staff in advance of any allergies, medical needs, or dietary restrictions for you or your guests.

PHOTO ID

A valid, government‑issued photo ID is required for entry to most Heritage events. Attendees without an ID may be denied admission.

BAGS AND PERSONAL ITEMS

For the safety of all attendees, speakers, staff, and other program participants, all persons, packages, bags, and other containers are subject to search. If a personal item requires storage throughout the event, we, or the event venue, may provide storage for your belongings; please note that storage of personal belongings is not guaranteed and Heritage is not responsible for items that are lost, misplaced, or left behind.

GENERAL SECURITY MEASURES

Heritage reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to deny admission to anyone for any reason and to physically remove from the premises any person(s) in violation of these terms and our standards of conduct. The premises of the event shall be defined by The Heritage Foundation in consultation with the venue and local law enforcement within the event’s local jurisdiction. Any person who is removed from the event may be subject to detention by security for violation of these terms or potentially arrested by law enforcement for violation of any applicable laws and regulations of the event’s jurisdiction.

ATTENDANCE WITH CHILDREN

Attendees who bring children to an event are fully responsible for their supervision, safety, and behavior at all times. Children may not be left unattended. Heritage assumes no responsibility or liability for the care, supervision, or actions of children attending the event.

USE OF IMAGE OR LIKENESS

Heritage regularly records programs and special events. By confirming your participation in the event as a speaker, panelist, presenter, award recipient, honoree, or guest, you acknowledge that Heritage may record, livestream, and/or share the content publicly during and following the event. You also acknowledge that Heritage and its designees will maintain the rights to include your image, likeness, voice, actions, and statements, or other documents or information in any live or recorded audio, video, film, webinar, stream, or other transmission, exhibition, simulcast, or reproduction made of, or at, the program in any medium or context for any purpose, including commercial or promotional purposes, without further authorization or otherwise.

RECORDING AND PHOTOGRAPHY

We reserve the right to (1) restrict or prohibit audio or video recording, streaming or transmission of an event or the taking of photographs, and (2) remove anyone conducting unauthorized recording or photography, particularly at private or “off the record” events. Any person who conducts unauthorized recording or photography hereby grants Heritage permission to retain the recording device used to make an unauthorized recording and transfers ownership of the unauthorized recording of the event to Heritage.

TRADEMARKS AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

Use of organization trademarks, imagery, name, likeness, and other program content or intellectual property for any purpose requires attribution and advance written approval from [email protected].

LIABILITY

BY REGISTERING FOR OR ATTENDING AN EVENT, ATTENDEES AND THEIR GUESTS AGREE THAT THE HERITAGE FOUNDATION ASSUMES NO LIABILITY FOR INJURY, DAMAGE, ILLNESS, DEATH, PROPERTY LOSS OR ANY OTHER LOSS WHICH MAY BE RELATED IN ANY WAY TO ITS IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS POLICY.

In the event of injury, illness, or accident during a live event or program, attendee and their guests consent to have medical treatment that may be deemed advisable and affirmatively release The Heritage Foundation, the venue, and any and all persons participating in such medical treatment from all responsibility for any such action.

OTHER TERMS

Heritage reserves all rights not expressly granted to the attendee or their guest. The terms of Heritage’s Privacy Policy are included herein by reference.

If any of these conditions shall be deemed invalid, void, or for any reason unenforceable, that condition shall be deemed severable and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining condition.

Heritage reserves the right to make changes to our events, site, policies, and these terms at any time.
