Four New Trustees Elected to The Heritage Foundation Board of Trustees

May 27, 2026 2 min read

WASHINGTONThe Heritage Foundation today announced the election of four distinguished leaders to its Board of Trustees: Lawrence (Larry) Blanford, Dr. Yoram Hazony, Mollie Hemingway, and J.C. Huizenga.

The new trustees bring deep expertise spanning business leadership, corporate governance, journalism, and political philosophy, further strengthening Heritage’s stewardship at a decisive moment for the Conservative movement and the republic.

As Heritage expands its influence across public policy, media, education, and culture, the addition of these leaders reinforces the institution’s mission to build an America where freedom, opportunity, prosperity, and civil society flourish.  Their election also advances Heritage’s Four Cornerstones:

● The American Family
● The Dignity of Work and the Future of Free Enterprise
● National Security
● American Heritage and Citizenship

“With more than 500,000 members nationwide and a growing impact across every major arena of American public life, Heritage’s mission has never been more important,” said Barb Van Andel-Gaby, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “These new trustees bring the conviction, experience, and strategic vision necessary to help guide Heritage through one of the most consequential moments in modern American history.”

“Heritage’s mission is not only to produce and promote ideas, but to help build and sustain a governing movement capable of revitalizing the country,” said Kevin Roberts, President of The Heritage Foundation and a Trustee. "The future of the country depends on whether Americans are willing to defend permanent things: faith, family, community, sovereignty, and self-government. These trustees understand that task and bring the intellectual seriousness and leadership necessary to help Heritage deliver on our mission and meet this moment."

The New Trustees

Lawrence (Larry) Blanford, who revolutionized North American coffee consumption as CEO of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters with the Keurig Single Serve Brewing System, adds decades of executive and board leadership experience across both public and private companies, including deep expertise in corporate governance and enterprise management.

“Organizations succeed when they combine principled leadership with operational discipline,” Blanford said. “Heritage has built both, and its influence on the national conversation continues to grow because of it.”

Dr. Yoram Hazony, an internationally recognized political philosopher and author, strengthens Heritage’s intellectual leadership on national sovereignty and the moral foundations of free societies.

“The future of freedom depends on whether nations retain the confidence to defend their traditions, sovereignty, and moral inheritance,” Dr. Hazony said. “That is why Heritage’s work matters now more than ever.”

Mollie Hemingway, an agenda-setting journalist and Editor-in-Chief of The Federalist, brings credibility and clarity in the defense of Truth in public discourse at a time of collapsing trust in legacy institutions and corporate media.

“Americans are hungry for institutions willing to speak plainly and defend the Truth without apology,” Hemingway said. “Heritage has earned trust because it refuses to bend to political pressure or accommodate failed ideas.”

J.C. Huizenga brings decades of business leadership and nonprofit governance experience, with a focus on long-term institutional strength and operational excellence. He is the chairman and founder of The Huizenga Group, a family of companies spanning manufacturing, electrical contracting, and other industries.

“America’s future depends on whether we are willing to defend the institutions and values that made our country strong,” Huizenga said. “Heritage has been at the center of that fight for decades, and I’m proud to support its mission.”
