WASHINGTON—Yesterday, President Donald J. Trump named Jason Bedrick, a research fellow in the Center for Education Policy at The Heritage Foundation, to the Advisory Board of the Religious Liberty Commission. President Trump earlier this month signed an executive order creating the commission, which will feature individuals from various sectors of society to offer diverse perspectives on how the federal government can defend religious liberty for all Americans.

Bedrick, who focuses on policies that promote education freedom, religious liberty, classical education, and restoring the primary role of families in education, made the following statement:

“I am deeply honored and humbled to be appointed by President Trump to serve on the Religious Liberty Commission’s Advisory Board. At a time when the free exercise of religion is facing growing threats, I look forward to working with the other members of the commission and the advisory board to help safeguard America’s first freedom—the right to worship, believe, and live according to our religious convictions.”

Jonathan Butcher, the Will Skillman senior research fellow at Heritage’s Center for Education Policy, added the following:

“The president is setting a crucial example for policymakers nationwide with the creation of the commission and the designation of members for these advisory boards. Jason has been a stalwart defender of religious liberty and an outspoken watchdog on behalf of parents, religious schools, and the Jewish community during the recent outbreak of antisemitic riots on college campuses and elsewhere in the country.”
