RJ Hauman is a Visiting Fellow in the Border Security and Immigration Center at The Heritage Foundation.
A nationally recognized expert on immigration policy and strategy, Hauman has over a decade of experience navigating Washington’s policy, political, and media arenas. In addition to his role at Heritage, he leads a boutique public affairs firm and serves as president of the National Immigration Center for Enforcement (NICE), an organization dedicated to restoring the rule of law through effective interior immigration enforcement. He is also the co-founder and leader of the Mass Deportation and Border Security Coalition, which played a central role in crafting and advancing H.R. 2—the most comprehensive immigration enforcement legislation in American history.
Hauman regularly advises lawmakers, agency officials, and external organizations on legislation, administrative actions, and strategic messaging related to immigration, as well as energy, technology, and defense. A seasoned communicator, he has served as a leading spokesperson for the immigration reform movement for nearly a decade. His commentary and work have been featured in Fox News, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The New York Times, POLITICO, and The Hill.
He has also testified before Congress and numerous state legislatures, offering authoritative insights on a wide range of immigration policy issues. In June 2025, Hauman took the floor at the Oxford Union—the world’s most prestigious debating society—where he forcefully defended American sovereignty and dismantled the “no one is illegal on stolen land” narrative, challenging the core dogmas of the global open-borders movement.
Hauman previously served as head of government relations and communications at the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), where he helped position the organization as one of Washington’s most influential advocacy groups. During the first Trump administration, he played a key role in developing and advancing a range of immigration policy proposals, earning significant access and influence across Capitol Hill and the executive branch.
Earlier in his career, Hauman served as a congressional aide to former Congressman Elton Gallegly (R-CA), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Immigration Policy and Enforcement.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Clemson University and a Master’s degree from The George Washington University’s Graduate School of Political Management.
