WASHINGTON—The Heritage Foundation announced today the addition of Robert Greenway, career public servant and principal architect of the historic Abraham Accords, as senior advisor to the vice president of the Kathryn and Shelby Cullom Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy.

With more than three decades of experience in the military and intelligence community, Greenway previously served as deputy assistant to the president and senior director on the National Security Council under President Donald Trump. Greenway joins Heritage after working as an adjunct fellow at Hudson Institute and president and executive director of the Abraham Accords Peace Institute.

At Heritage, Greenway will work alongside Davis Institute Vice President Victoria Coates to design, promote, and implement conservative policy solutions that ensure American peace and security in an ever-changing and dangerous global climate.

“Rob’s unique experience and keen insight will be invaluable to The Heritage Foundation and the country as we navigate this challenging time for our nation’s security,” said Victoria Coates, vice president of Heritage’s Davis Institute. “The world is in crisis due to a lack of strong, measured, and thoughtful American leadership that prioritizes our citizens’ needs while protecting our interests around the world. Rob’s addition to our team will help The Heritage Foundation step up to fill that void.”

Before his time on the National Security Council (NSC), Greenway worked as a senior intelligence officer at the Defense Intelligence Agency’s U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM). A U.S. Special Forces combat veteran with multiple tours in both Afghanistan and Iraq, Greenway left active duty in the U.S. Army before being deployed by USCENTCOM, where he served in Afghanistan as a senior intelligence analyst.

In his roles in the U.S. Army, Defense Intelligence Agency, and the NSC, Greenway was instrumental in eliminating infamous terrorist leaders as a member of an Army Special Mission Unit, dismantling global illicit trade networks, countering insurgency and developing partner capacity in Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, and expanding some of the military’s elite assessment, selection, and training programs.

On joining Heritage, Greenway said:

“I am honored to be joining the Heritage team of professional and dedicated patriots working tirelessly for America’s future. Under the leadership of Dr. Kevin Roberts, Heritage will continue to lead the charge for free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense. I look forward to working alongside Victoria Coates and her superb team at Heritage to defend America, defeat China, and fuel the future.”

Greenway holds a bachelor's degree from the Virginia Military Institute and a master’s degree with honors from Webster University.
