Valuing our Veterans

Nov 11, 2021 1 min read

Each year on Nov. 11, we celebrate Veterans Day. The holiday was originally called Armistice Day, which commemorated the day in 1918 when a ceasefire was called at the end of World War I. After World War II and the Korean War, Congress officially changed the name of Armistice Day to Veterans Day in 1954.

Distinct from Memorial Day, which emphasizes remembering the fallen, Veterans Day serves as an opportunity to honor the contributions and service of our American veterans—both past and present.

As we pause in reflection today, make a special effort to thank a U.S. veteran for their service and sacrifice. We must not overlook the courage and commitment they have shown for our country.

Your voice and appreciation can make a difference in a veteran’s life!

Heritage thanks our veterans for their courageous sacrifice and service.
