Description
Decades of U.S. engagement with China, fueled by trade and manufacturing policies that empowered the Chinese Communist Party, have left the U.S. dependent on China. Critical supply chains, from vital rare-earth elements to key pharmaceutical products, remain largely or wholly dependent on the Chinese Communist Party. The American people have been exposed to a wide range of malicious CCP activities here on American soil. Meanwhile, billions of dollars of U.S. capital flow into China annually with few restrictions, little oversight, and minimal prohibitions, including the pension funds of millions of Americans who are unwittingly funding Chinese companies building aircraft carriers and fighters jets that could one day be used against American servicemembers. These suicidal policies must come to an end.
Congressman John Moolenaar (R-MI) serves as Chairman of the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party. He is leading the charge in Congress to expose and confront the CCP’s threats to our economy, national security, and values. Under his leadership, the Committee has advanced bipartisan efforts to secure American supply chains, protect U.S. technology, and stop the flow of U.S. investment to hostile Chinese firms.
Heritage’s B.C. Lee Lecture on international affairs was endowed by the Samsung Group in honor of its founder, the late B.C. Lee, to focus on the U.S. relationship with the Indo-Pacific.
