America has a vast supply and diversity of energy resources unlike anywhere else in the world. However, energy policies and regulations often hamper economic development of coal, oil, natural gas, and nuclear and heavily subsidize politically favored but less efficient energy sources. This causes high prices, technological stagnation, and greater dependence on Washington and foreign governments to meet American energy needs. Energy uniquely affects the nation, the corporation and the individual and therefore so does bad energy policy. Instead of Washington micromanagement, American energy policy should reduce regulation, increase supply, cut all energy subsidies, and rely on market forces and the private sector for affordable and reliable energy.
