Who should apply for the High School Fellowship?

The 2024 High School Fellowship is available for high school students and recent high school graduates (Spring 2024). The most competitive applicants have excellent academic achievement, involved in leadership positions on or off campus, and a demonstrated interest in public policy.

It is important that students come into the fellowship ready to share their own perspectives and engage in respectful dialogue with their peers, instructors, and guest speakers.

How do I apply?

Applications are submitted online. Expect to answer biographical information and write short answer policy questions. Apply here.

How do I confirm that you received my application?

Students submitting a completed High School Fellowship application will receive a confirmation email. If you did not receive a notification after submitting your completed application, please email us at [email protected], because we may not have received it.

When should I expect to hear about the status of my application?

Decisions are made on a rolling basis, so students are encouraged to apply early.

How many students are accepted into each class?

Thirty top-notch students will be accepted to each week-long fellowship. We keep the fellowship class size small to foster a highly collaborative, discussion-based environment.

How much will it cost to attend the High School Fellowship?

Every accepted student will receive a full scholarship covering travel, housing, meals, course materials, and tour activities.

Where is the High School Fellowship held?

The fellowship will take place in the heart of Washington, DC on Capitol Hill. All sessions will be held at Heritage’s headquarters with excursions to our nation’s most notable monuments and museums. Students will be housed in a nearby hotel with chaperones.

How are students supervised?

High School Fellows will stay in supervised hotel housing. During the day, programs are broken up into smaller groups with a dedicated Team Advisor that accompanies the students throughout their program activities. Team Advisors double as Resident Advisors and reside on the same floors as students for overnight supervision.
