Brian Slattery is a former policy analyst for national security in the Center for National Defense at The Heritage Foundation.

Slattery supported all research efforts on defense policy, focusing specifically on Coast Guard issues and Arctic security policy. He also managed production of Heritage’s annual Index of U.S. Military Strength.

He contributed commentary to The Daily Signal, the multimedia news organization of The Heritage Foundation.

Before joining Heritage, Slattery served as a defense research assistant in the office of Rep. J. Randy Forbes, R-Va., supporting the congressman’s military affairs portfolio.

Slattery holds a master of public policy degree with a focus in national security from George Mason University’s School of Policy, Government, and International Affairs.

He received a bachelor of arts degree in international affairs with a business concentration from Xavier University, where he minored in classical humanities.

He lives in Silver Spring, Maryland, with his wife Elizabeth and their son Michael.
