Senate's Disastrous CR Fails Key Vote

A vote to end debate on the Senate’s proposed continuing resolution (CR) failed this afternoon. Heritage's Tommy Binion, Director of Policy Outreach, had this to say:
“The Republican leadership in Congress have now been given yet another opportunity to do the right thing. The CR offered in the Senate was disastrous from the start – negotiated behind closed doors with little member input and void of any real conservative policy priorities. The Senate should now consider and pass a CR that eliminates the possibility of a spending fight during the lame duck and stabilizes out-of-control spending. Additionally, the CR should include language that delays the ICANN transition and restricts additional funding for Planned Parenthood. Under the CR proposed by Sen. McConnell (R-KY), the Senate would allow even more taxpayer money to go to Planned Parenthood. It is unconscionable that only months after voting to strip taxpayer funding entirely, the Senate would now be trying to ram through a bill that would give the nation’s largest abortion provider increased access to taxpayer dollars.”
