WASHINGTON, June 9, 2016—The House Republican National Security Task Force today released its policy recommendations, setting the Republican agenda for defense legislation in the next Congress. The task force was one of six established by House Speaker Paul Ryan last February.
Justin Johnson, senior policy analyst for defense budgeting at The Heritage Foundation’s, applauded the thrust of the report and its recommendations.
"Finally, a clear-eyed view of the world as it is,” he said. “With foreign threats increasing in number and severity, America simply cannot afford to continue downsizing our military and disengaging from world affairs. The task force's policy recommendations recognize this reality and seek to restore the United States to a sound security footing."
"Americans want both safety and prosperity,” Johnson added. “The task force realizes that both are interdependent. It has set a bold agenda. Now Congress must act—and act quickly—to make it happen."
