Iraq

Iraq has been convulsed by a hydra-headed insurgency supported by Syria and Iran, and sectarian conflict fueled by Islamic extremists. Despite considerable progress, the U.S. and its allies face a major challenge in consolidating the political stability of a coalition government willing and able to function as an ally in the War on Terrorism.
