Let me get this straight: PL 108-458 mandates the size of investigators under the INTEL Reform and Terrorist prevention act?
Does this outlook give us the idea that there are only a set number of groups or individuals involved *in* terrorist activities to be found? Or that the number of terrorist groups is static with set ideas on how to get to the US, especially personnel?
DoJ has already put a few hundred Hezbollah members and sympathizers in the Federal system, and the groups internal to the US still aligned to Hezbollah, Hamas, Moslem Brotherhood, etc. are still active. How does this bill address those that come over the border who *don't* want to be found? Back in 2002-3 an entire Middle East human trafficking ring from Lebanon through the tri-border area in South America to Mexico and then utilizing a US immigrant businessman operated to the tune of hundreds brought in illegally. There are reports of numerous such rings in operation throughout the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
When will Congress get serious about this? Apparently no time soon.

I notice it doesn't say Border Patrol Agents, but include Customs and Border Protection Officers who only inspect arriving persons seeking admission to the US at Ports of Entry. And the ICE section says 200 assigned to investigate alien smuggling. Does that mean Special Agents or does it mean Immigration Enforcement Agents? I worked 8 years with the INS and never came accross a Deputy US Marshal who assisted with immigration matters.

notice the term "subject to the availability of appropriations" in all 3 areas. As we know the gov't is always changing how much is given to our current programs. Do you really think the money is going to be given here? Loophole or increasing taxes on us?

LOL, WHO EVEN WANTS TO BE A BORDER PATROL AGENT THIS DAYS? I KNOW I WOULDN'T BECAUSE I DON'T WANT TO END UP IN JAIL JUST BECAUSE I AM DOING MY JOB. HEY... CRIME PAYS, MAYBE I WILL TRY IT!

When I came back from embassy duty in 1979, I told everyone who would listen, that we live in a glass house. At MSG school the FBI informed us that they were watching on a full-time and part-time basis, upwards of 50 to 60,000 suspected terrorist in our country, that was 1977. Hay Folks, you think the internet will be their next "problem that has to be dwelt with"?

Make all land within 500 yards of the border unauthorized space with shoot to kill orders, the border will secure in minutes not months or years. a FEW WILL DIE BUT MANY WILL NOT TRY NOR DIE IN THE DESERT. THE OUTCOME WOULD BE LIVES SAVES AND BORDERS SECURED.
