Today’s society is saturated with competing answers to the dilemmas of love, sex, relationships, marriage, gender roles, and family. In The Redemption of Love, Carrie Miles takes a socioeconomic approach to examining the causes of this confusion. In a chapter titled, “Love in an Age of Wealth,” she discusses how economic necessity has shaped perspectives on the purpose of marriage, the role of women, and the place of family in society. Dr. Miles argues for a basis for marriage and family that transcends historically shifting economic patterns.
