On March 24, the United States House of Representatives approved a resolution reaffirming “its unwavering commitment to the Taiwan Relations Act (TRA) as the cornerstone of relations between the United States and Taiwan.” The resolution was sponsored by Representative Shelley Berkley (D-NV) and co-sponsored by 124 of her colleagues, 55 Democrats and 69 Republicans. Nothing is permanent on Capitol Hill, but bi-partisan commitment to the Taiwan Relations Act is as close as it comes. Join us as we explore the depth of that commitment and its future with Representatives Berkley and Congressional staff members past and present.

Our program is dedicated to the memory of Ambassador Harvey J. Feldman. Ambassador Feldman was an author of the Taiwan Relations Act and a stalwart defender of its word and spirit. He served as a Distinguished Fellow in China Policy at The Heritage Foundation for thirteen years and was a dear friend to his colleagues here and to a great many associates in the broader foreign policy community.
