US-Japan Partnership in Transforming the East Asian Security Environment

Recorded on May 1, 2007

Location: The Heritage Foundation's Allison Auditorium

The U.S.-Japan alliance has been a bedrock for maintaining peace and stability in Northeast Asia.  But, Washington and Tokyo will be challenged by China's growing military and North Korea's lingering military belligerence, which pose security threats to the region.  As the United States and Japan address these and future challenges, it will be necessary to define the means of deepening and evolving the bilateral military relationship and expanding Japan's global role while addressing the security concerns of Tokyo's neighbors.  Join us as our panelists discuss the role of the U.S.-Japanese partnership in transforming the East Asian Security Environment.
