The Future for U.S. - Africa Relations

Recorded on December 16, 2008

Location: The Heritage Foundation's Allison Auditorium

The Bush Administration responded to the expanding U.S.-Africa agenda with programs of historic proportions and policies that elevated the relationship to unprecedented levels.  What will the Obama Administration have to do to keep up the momentum and where can they apply useful new approaches?  Andrew Natsios, as USAID Administrator and Special Envoy to Sudan, played a leadership role in many of the programs that supported the unprecedented growth in U.S. support to African development.  Walter Kansteiner crafted a policy approach to U.S. interests in Africa that led to fundamental breakthroughs for peace and security, democracy, and private sector growth.  Join us as these experts examine the way forward in U.S.-Africa relations.
