Is Prayer Good For Your Health?

Recorded on September 15, 2003

Location:
The Heritage Foundation's Lehrman Auditorium

Rereshments will begin at 9:00 am.

Intriguing research being conducted at some of the nation's top universities suggests that prayer and religious faith are connected to recovery from illness and better health. Dozens of studies indicating such a relationship could have important implications for medical practice, health care costs and public policy - including faith-based approaches to health and social problems. But some researchers question the methodology and assumptions used in these studies and caution against misinterpreting the findings.

The Heritage Foundation's Center on Religion and Civil Society invites you to a discussion on this research, at which a panel of leading researchers - both proponents and skeptics - will describe the research and debate its implications for health care and for public policy.
