Improving Lives: The Impact of U.S. Foreign Assistance
Recorded on October 26, 2006
Location: The Heritage Foundation's Lehrman Auditorium
The Washington-based non-profit organization Terror Free
Tomorrow will release results from recent polling in Indonesia,
Pakistan, and Bangladesh on the impact of U.S. foreign assistance
on public opinion in these three important Muslim countries. Terror
Free Tomorrow polling in Indonesia and Pakistan in the past has
revealed strong linkages between U.S. humanitarian assistance
following the December 2004 tsunami and October 2005 Pakistan
earthquake and positive public perceptions of America. How did the
U.S. coordinate and implement these two successful humanitarian
endeavors? And, how can we improve our ongoing bilateral U.S.
assistance programs to produce the same kind of international
goodwill that our humanitarian relief efforts have generated?
