Heritage Event: Does the U.S. Face a Crisis in Asia?
Recorded on January 9, 2003
The Heritage Foundation's Lehrman Auditorium
Does the U.S. face a crisis in Asia? With so much attention on
Iraq, will East Asia prove to be the more formidable challenge for
the Bush Administration? With new leadership in China and South
Korea, how will the United States enlist its Asian allies to help
quell the threat of an increasingly dangerous North Korea? Sen. Sam
Brownback has just returned from Asia, where he visited the
China/North Korea border, Beijing and India. He will share his
thoughts on what the Chinese can do to help ease tensions on the
Korean peninsula and address the ongoing problem of North Korean
refugees. He also will discuss his talks in London about a
post-Saddam Iraq. Join us as we discuss these issues and more with
Sen. Sam Brownback.
