Colby Military Writers' Symposium: Civilians in the Path of War

Recorded on February 7, 2007

Since 1996, Norwich University's Colby Symposium (named in memory of the late Ambassador William E. Colby) has brought top authors, historians, journalists and filmmakers to Norwich University each spring. Founded in 1819, Norwich University is the nation's oldest private military college and the birthplace of ROTC. In 1998, the Colby Symposium broadened its scope to the nation's capital, where it sponsors an annual panel discussion each winter and where the winner of the prestigious Colby Military Writers' Symposium Book Award is announced. This year's panel is on the controversial topic of "Civilians in the Path of War." Three top authors in the field will give brief presentations on what each believes are the key issues associated with the topic, then the moderator will lead a free-form discussion. A reception and book signing will follow.
