Obama Knows He's Supposed to Enforce Immigration Laws But He Isn't

I just heard a speech President Obama gave last year. He said he is obligated to enforce laws even when he disagrees with them. He said it was tempting to do things on his own, bypassing Congress.

But, the President said, that's not how our system works, and it's not how our Constitution is written. He made the speech to a pro-amnesty audience which loudly cheered and encouraged him to change the laws on his own.

Sadly, the President now is trying to do that. Every day tens of thousands of people here illegally are applying for special permission to stay. The Obama Administration calls it deferred action. Most of us would call it amnesty. No matter what the name, it's a deliberate attempt to ignore the President's constitutional duty to enforce the laws, whether he likes them or not. And that is wrong.
