Confusion Is Ahead for Your Health Insurance

What becomes of your health insurance after that surprise Supreme Court ruling?

Unless Obamacare is repealed, expect lots of confusion and no clear answers. Many employers will probably stop providing insurance, shifting workers into government-run programs.

Several million Americans must buy coverage for the first time or pay a tax penalty to the IRS. Millions more would be put into Medicaid. Others would get a subsidy to buy insurance through a government-run exchange. Many will still get insurance through their employers, but pay more than they do now.

Rarely will you get to decide. Usually, employers will decide whether to keep providing coverage or not. That's because Obamacare dictates more generous benefits, which naturally cost more. Some companies will drop insurance and send workers to Uncle Sam for coverage.

Taxpayers will pay those insurance bills for millions more Americans.
