Uncle Sam's 'Savings' Can Bankrupt Us

Do you enjoy washing dishes by hand? You may want to try it because new federal regulations will make automatic dishwashers more expensive.

The culprit is the U.S. Department of Energy. Their new rules require dishwashers to use less water and less electricity, which one study says will raise the purchase price by about $44. The bureaucrats say that's okay, because in just 12 years you'll save enough to offset the costs.

Unfortunately, most dishwashers don't last 12 years!

This is just like the news about electric cars. They're expensive, but the energy savings supposedly will make up the difference once you drive the car 10 to 12 years—except most people don't keep their cars that long.

It's the same issue with the new and costly light bulbs. Pretty soon government will save us so much energy that we'll all go broke.
