Is the White House Leaking Secrets for Campaign Purposes?

Somebody is leaking secrets from U.S. Intelligence to The New York Times.  Is it for campaign purposes?

Details were published about how we planted a computer virus that damaged Iran's nuclear weapon program.  Other stories revealed how a mole penetrated Islamic terrorists, smuggling out an underwear bomb that could have blown up a jetliner.  And Hollywood got juicy details of how Osama bin Laden was taken down—while the informer who helped America was exposed and imprisoned.

Publicizing details of intelligence sources and methods invites retaliation by terrorists, or by Iran.

The FBI is investigating the leaks.  There are theories—but no proof—that the White House leaked the details to improve President Obama's image as a strong leader.

Whatever the motive, one Senator noted, “Our friends are not the only ones who read The New York Times.  Our enemies do, too.”
