Wisconsin Recall

Recorded on January 20, 2012

Remember when labor union protestors occupied the Wisconsin state capitol for weeks, opposing a law that would reduce their leverage over state government? And when lawmakers fled the state to avoid having to vote on that proposal?

Unions lost that fight, so they tried to change the control of the legislature with recall elections of key lawmakers. They did not succeed.

Now the unions say they have over a million signatures on petitions to recall the governor, Scott Walker. That will mean another special election at taxpayer expense, but with milions and millions of dollars spent on pro- and con- campaigning.

On one hand, you have to admire the tenacity of the public employee unions. On the other hand, it shows just how much they were overpaid, that they can spend such a fortune fighting to get back their gold-plated treatment.
