Less Capable Army

Recorded on January 4, 2012

Our military is being downsized. Rather than providing an army to match our needs, it will be scaled back to meet an arbitrary budget figure.

These are President Obama's defense cuts, plus additional reductions that he and Congress approved in their budget deal last August.

Until now, our force structure was designed to fight two land wars at the same time, if necessary. Now the capability is being lowered to only one war, while trying to just hold the line someplace else.

It's like fighting World War 2 in Europe, but not the Pacific. Because we have forces committed to the MidEast, we could not also defend South Korea if North Korea attacked.

Other federal programs, like Obamacare and social programs, are getting blank checks. But cutting the military instead will make us less safe than we have been in a long time.
