Stimulus and Criminals

When a reporter challenged claims made by Vice-President Joe Biden, the Vice-President got mad. But fellow reporters began to check out Biden's statements.

According to Biden, Washington should spend billions to prevent layoffs of local teachers and police. Otherwise, he claimed, crime would climb. Biden said that police layoffs in Flint, Michigan, caused murder, rape and robbery to skyrocket.

Guess what? The media found it's not true. The Washington Post said Biden's claims were worthy of four Pinocchios, which they say means he told a whopper. And FactCheck.org concluded that Biden misrepresented the crime statistics, flagrantly so in describing levels of rape.

Trying to scare people into spending billions is using an ancient political tactic called the big lie. And claims like this are why citizens don't trust Washington.
