Big Government Addiction

Recorded on August 5, 2011

As soon as the U.S. Treasury was cleared to start borrowing again, it quickly borrowed enough to reach a milestone. As our national debt grew beyond $14 ½-trillion, it surpassed the size of our total annual economy.

We now owe more than the entire USA—every person, every company, every business—collectively produce in a single year.

Financial markets figured it out immediately—Washington's latest budget deal didn't solve anything, but just perpetuated an oversize government that spends too much.

We have a clear line drawn now between those who claim government isn't doing enough, and that's why our economy is stalled out with millions out of work. But the real problem is that we've become addicted to big government and the addiction makes our economy sick.

To fix our economy, we've got to break the big government habit.
