If you enjoy luxurious showers, Uncle Sam thinks you’re using too much water. The Department of Energy has issued $168 thousand in fines so far and warned the makers of shower heads that spray more than two and a half gallons a minute.
The crack-down is based on a law passed in 1992. They’re also going after shower heads with multiple nozzles- telling makers that after they clear out the current inventory then no more are allowed.
A government spokesman agrees that they intend to limit your choices as a consumer. After all they say ‘if you waste water, that wastes energy.’ Of course, then you also pay higher energy and water bills, which is supposed to be enough deterrent by itself. But the feds say you can’t have that choice. It’s your shower, but Uncle Sam wants to control it.
