Energy Policy Lags

Recorded on March 22, 2011

It's time for common sense; I'm Ernest Istook.

The Secretary of Energy isn’t happy that gasoline costs about four dollars a gallon. After all secretary Steven Chu has said that America would be better off if the price were about ten dollars a gallon- like in Europe. The Obama Administration Policy is to Dictate higher fuel mileage even though it adds thousands of dollars to the price in each car.

Their favorite alternative is the Chevy Volt- which cost about $40,000 each. Yet the Volt can only go a few miles on electricity without having to switch over to a gasoline engine. No wonder they only sell about 300 of them a month- and that’s for the entire country. Are government dictates that we pay more for a lower standard of living with even more antics on the way to restrict our use of energy. We don’t have energy independence because government keeps removing our energy freedom.

For common sense, from The Heritage Foundation, I'm Ernest Istook.
