It's time for common sense; I'm Ernest Istook.
38 years ago the U.S. Supreme Court found something in our Constitution that the Founding Fathers never put there--a constitutional right to abortions.
Because of that, now each month 100-thousand babies are aborted in America.
In recent years, popular support for abortions has continued to drop, but now we have the most pro-abortion President ever in Barack Obama. So the cutting edge of the battle is over taxpayer funding for abortions.
The issue of federal funding has become an annual political football, with the policy changing year-by-year. Pending in the U.S. House is HR 3, that would permanently ban the use of any federal funds or facilities for an abortion, excepting only forcible rape or incest or if the mother's life itself is jeopardized.
Isn't it time to do something permanent to protect innocent life?
