Red Tape Hearings
Recorded on January 4, 2011
It's time for common sense; I'm Ernest Istook.
As the new Congress gets underway, they plan hearings into the government red tape that ties up businesses, stifling them from growing and adding jobs.
There's Obama's health care law, which will make health care cost more, not less.
The new financial services law dictates that federal agencies must create 250 new rules on loans, credit cards, and consumer financing.
And everything from light bulbs to refrigerators must meet federal energy standards, which means they cost more to make and to buy. It's the same with mileage standards for cars. And the new EPA restrictions on energy use.
We're promised that if we'll just pay more in the short run, Uncle Sam's orders will save us money eventually. And if you believe that, you may also want to invest in the Brooklyn Bridge.
