Overcriminalization

"Overcriminalization" describes the trends in America - and particulary in Congress - to use the criminal law to "solve" every problem, punish every mistake (instead of making proper use of civil penalties), and coerce Americans into conforming their behavior to satisfy social engineering objectives.

HR 442: Veterans’ Heritage Firearms Act of 2009

Official Title

A bill to provide an amnesty period during which veterans and their family members can register certain firearms in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record, and for other purposes.

Analysis

This bill would provide an amnesty period of 90 days during which veterans and their family members could register firearms acquired while stationed outside of the United States without facing criminal liability for possession of those firearms.
