How to Brexit: The Next Steps on the Road to Britain's Independence from the European Union

Britain's historic vote on June 23 to leave the European Union – the Brexit – is a milestone in the recovery of Britain's sovereignty and ability to make its own domestic and foreign policies. The task before the new British government today is to make Brexit a reality, and to do so with a careful eye to the policies that will make it a success.

In 2014, the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) in London sponsored a landmark Brexit essay prize competition, which attracted 149 entries. An essay by Iain Murray and Rory Broomfield, "Cutting the Gordian Knot: A Road Map for British Exit from the European Union," finished second in the competition. The authors have revised their essay in light of the June 23 vote and will launch and comment on it at The Heritage Foundation.

Please join us for a discussion of Britain's Brexit options and of the authors' call for Britain to again lead the worldwide movement for free trade.
